Facebook is no longer just for uncomfortable political statements and baby pictures. The most famous social network has also become an easy, cheap way to attract and communicate with patients. Here’s how to use it for your practice:
CREATE A PAGE
First, you need to create a business page. It will be connected with your personal account but none of your future fans will see that. Just log in to your regular account and click on “Create a Page” on the left hand side under “Pages.” Choose “Local business or place” and just follow the wizard from there.
Next, you need to get some fans. Start by inviting your friends and family to like the page. Ask your staff to do the same. Then, be sure to send out an email to your patients asking them to like it as well. Remember- the more likes your page has, the more legitimate it seems to potential patients.
WHAT TO POST
As you might have noticed from your own newsfeed, pictures, links and videos are the most effective types of content. Try posting different types of content to see what performs best. You could feature photos of your staff, links to important health news, or even a video tour of your practice. Funny or emotional posts also perform extremely well. Just remember to get signed consent before posting any patient pictures.
HOW OFTEN TO POST
Try to post at least once a week to maximize your audience engagement score. That’s the number that Facebook uses to determine how often your posts show up in people’s newsfeeds.
